Ruth

Ruth Ruth is a former biologist and now social worker, passionate about suffering abolitionism. They started strongly caring about suffering (both animal and human suffering) in their teens. But due to alienation from their social circles, they disregarded moral concerns, as it seemed hopeless. A first influential vegan encounter was with a colleague at a brain research lab in 2011, which started Ruth's trajectory toward veganism. Since late 2017 Ruth has been involved with Effective Altruism primarily due to Brian Tomasik's influential writings at the time. For Effective Altruism, Ruth contributed with workshops and organization of weekend retreats in Germany, Netherlands, and Switzerland. They organized the first semiregular online events for the abolition of suffering in 2020 with a lot of influence and support from David Pearce. Our website: suffering-abolition.github.io
