Please note that we have now filled all available slots for presentations. We can still fit several workshops and movie screenings into the schedule. You can still send us your details for presentations and we can put you on the backlog in case we get some cancellations.
The International Animal Rights Conference 2023 is organized by activists of the animal rights movement for the animal rights movement. So, of course, we are looking for animal rights advocates who wish to actively contribute as content providers. If you wish to contribute by giving a presentation or a workshop, screening an animal rigths documentary, present your campaign, or contribute some other content that is interesting for other animal rigths activists, please read on.
We would like to address all aspects of the animal rights work – both theoretical and practical. For the theoretical aspects, the contributions will be mainly in the form of presentations. In contrast, the practical aspects will most likely also include various workshops.
Presentations are set up so that first, the speakers present their topics. Afterward, there is time for questions from the audience. The presentation should take approximately 25-30 minutes and then leave 10-15 minutes for the questions from the audience at the end.
The slots are intended to present currently active or planned campaigns, especially international campaigns of the animal rights movement. The presentation should take approximately 25-30 minutes and then leave 10-15 minutes for the questions from the audience at the end.
Workshops are intended to provide practical information of use in the animal rights work or about the vegan lifestyle. Workshops should provide approximately 20 minutes of information and then leave 30 minutes for questions and discussions from and amongst the audience, or other types of interactive components.
Discussions are intended to collectively gather information of use in the animal rights work. Discussions should provide an introduction of about 5-10 minutes and then leave time to work on the topic for about 40 minutes.
There is a small cinema available at the conference location. If you have created an animal rights documentary or other film material that you want to share with the other participants, there are slots of various lengths available in the cinema. Right now, we still have to clarify how we can operate the cinema to meet the infection prevention requirements – probably we will need to include breaks in the screenings to get fresh air into the cinema during longer screenings. Still, we will try to make it happen.
The conference in 2023 is planned to be a mix of presentations held by speakers live in Luxembourg and ones where the speakers sit remotely. So, if you want to contribute but are not able to travel to Luxembourg in September, you can also apply for a presentation slot online. Online slots are limited to the contribution type "Presentation". If for some reason, the situation of the pandemic does not allow a conference with a live presence, we will switch again to a fully online conference, as it was done in 2020.
All content provided at the conference is to be given in English, so you need to be fluent in English to contribute. The only exception is small workshops that address a special area focusing on a certain country.
Besides that, we will only allow contributions from people engaged in the struggle to end animal exploitation - which means that contributors must be vegans. We will not allow any persons associated with religious sects or right-winged groups to contribute in any form.
Speakers offered a slot to contribute will be accepted as the persons they are and not as representatives of organizations. If a speaker cannot attend, it will not be possible to simply send another person to replace the speaker – this will first have to be approved by the conference's organization team. Also, speakers are not allowed to present their organization primarily but need to present a topic of interest to the international animal rights movement. Promotion for certain organizations is not acceptable – this can be done in the form of stalls, but not during the presentations.
Unfortunately, our budget does not permit us to cover the travel, food, and lodging expenses for speakers. However, all speakers can participate at the conference for free and get free breakfast and lunch at the conference location.
We will have a video team at the conference to record the presentations. If the speakers agree to it, the contribution will be recorded and made available on YouTube after the conference.
After having read the above information and you wish to contribute, please fill in the Speaker Application Form.
We will review your information and get back to you. Please note that we reserve the right to decline anyone the right to contribute to the conference. Also, note that we will organize the presentations and workshops into topic areas and also that we have to limit the contributions in certain areas to provide room for diverse topics.
There is no deadline date for the applications. Once we have received enough interesting applications for contribution, the slots are gone, and no more applications are possible.
