German documentary filmmaker Marc Pierschel focuses on the human-animal relationship. His films include "Live and Let Live" (2013), which explores the history of living without animal products, "The End of Meat" (2017), which delves into future science and food alternatives, and "Butenland" (2019), about a former dairy farm that becomes an animal sanctuary.
Marc Pierschel was born in 1978 in Hildesheim, Germany. After studying sociology and cultural studies in Münster, he founded the collective roots of compassion in 2002 and, a little later, the compassion media publishing house. In 2009, he made his first documentary film, "EDGE". He founded his production company blackrabbit images in 2012 and, in 2022, co-founded antimae film with Steffi Köhler, a production company for documentaries and feature films. He is currently working on his debut fiction feature film "Matilda".
