A South African academic, novelist and playwright, Stephen Marcus Finn has campaigned in several countries for the rights of the oppressed (including blacks, women, the LGBTQ+, and animals, particularly farmed animals). With doctorates in English and Communication, Stephen started his working career as a farm laborer and entertainer, before becoming a journalist, teacher, academic and writer. He has been a vegan for decades, and concentrates on the arts (film, literature, art, music) as ways of promoting animal rights. He is a founder of Speak! (Society for People, Environment and Animal Kindness), WAR (Writers for Animal Rights), and Asher`s Farm Sanctuary. Stephen is also heavily involved in the worlds of classical music, avant-garde theater and cutting edge art in South Africa.
