International day against speciesism, marches in Geneva and Toronto
Anoushavan Sarukhanyan

Speciesism is, by analogy to racism and sexism, the ideology that justifies the neglect of the interests and lives of nonhuman animals for the simple reason that they are not from our species. Many philosophers consider that this ideology is as irrational and wrong as racism and sexism and that sentient beings shouldn`t be treated as a simple ressource. Activists from Switzerland and Canada would like to organize a march against speciesism to create a public debate on this question. An international day against speciesism (maybe on the 22nd of August?) can be created so that activists all around the world can organize actions which aim will be to create a debate over the notion of speciesism. An open discussion is organized on this subject and also to see if other countries would like to organize a similar march in their country.
