Planing the International Animal Rights Conference 2021 is undoubtedly a challenge, as we have a great uncertainty about how the pandemic situation will develop leading up to the conference this year. This page describes how we plan to implement a conference that allows both speakers and participants to join the conference live in Luxembourg and online.
This concept allows animal rights activists to participate and contribute, even if they are affected by COVID-19, come from regions where the pandemic is causing severe issues, or if they just don't feel comfortable joining a live event. Also, the concept will allow us to switch to a purely online event again in 2021 if the situation does not allow for a conference with a live presence in September.
This page will be updated regularly as we get closer to the IARC2021, and it reflects the current state of the date listed at the top of this page.
We plan to have a live presence conference in Luxembourg at the event location we have been using since 2012. This means we will have several rooms where presentations, workshops, and discussions will take place. The presentations in the main room will be given mostly by live speakers. Some speakers will be presenting online and streamed to the screen of that the main room. The live audience will be able to pose questions to the online speakers. There will be space for stalls by animal rights groups and vegan shops. Vegan food will be offered to the participants.

Both speakers and participants can join purely online. Not all the content available live in Luxembourg will be offered online. Still, we plan to include as much content as possible. Also, we will include special online content when there are breaks in the program in Luxembourg to make online participation a great experience. The details are currently still being worked on. We will add more details here and provide an online program as we clarify the technical implementation. Right now, we plan to use Zoom again, as we had done in 2020.
