TransFARMing agriculture
Rescuing animals with the goal of perennial change
Sarah Heiligtag

We have been running the Hof Narr farm sanctuary and vegan farm for ten years. Four years ago, farmers started contacting us, asking about the possibility of changing their farms into cruelty-free places and still productive farms. Animal suffering was the main motivator. Since we realized that changing farms would mean rescues on a larger scale and also disrupting the violent supply chain altogether, we said yes to helping farmers to transition. Since then, we have managed to change 125 farms into cruelty-free places, which sometimes also do outreach work and, in any case, are part of very important steps into animal liberation by offering plant-based food, producing food, not feed and telling the stories of the animals behind animal agriculture. In my talk, I want to share the experience of 5 years of TransFARMation to inspire and motivate activists worldwide to keep going and show that real change is possible.
