Mariel became active for animals in 2017 after seeing a speech by an animal rights activist. She has organized groups and events, done direct actions, held workshops, done research, given speeches and interviews, and much more.
In the animal rights movement, she found and developed some of her strengths and passions: Connecting people with each other for the benefit of the movement and inspiring more people to bring their passion(s) to the animal rights movement long-term.
She is doing a Ph.D. in environmental sciences related to landscape change due to animal agriculture.
