Josie Du Toit

Josie Du Toit

Josie Du Toit has been involved in animal rights since a young age. She was raised vegetarian and went vegan after watching Gary Yourofsky`s "Best Speech You Will Ever Hear". Josie worked as a veterinary nurse in England and in veterinary nutrition before moving to South Africa to volunteer at the Vervet Monkey Foundation in 2005. She changed the sanctuary from a vegetarian organization to a vegan one that now promotes a vegan lifestyle.

Before going vegan, Josie suffered from a chronic illness called fibromyalgia for 10 years. Despite years of research, medical, diets and natural treatments her condition remained the same. After detoxing and changing to a healthy 100% plant-based diet for 6 months, Josie came off all her medications and recovered herself fully despite being told by doctors there is no cure and she may end up in a wheelchair by the age of 30.

Josie was recently nominated as an inspiring animal advocate for Joanne McArthur`s Unbound Project.
