What news from the psychologists?
Stijn Bruers

This presentation gives an overview of some recent social psychological studies and findings related to meat consumption and speciesism. Topics that will be explained are: the interspecies model of prejudice, dehumanization, moral disengagement, perpetration-induced traumatic stress, psychic numbing, carnism, cognitive dissonance theory, the meat paradox, the denial of mind, terror mamangement theory, do-gooder derogation, anticipated reproach and vegaphobia. It gives a lot of evidence that most meat eaters do something against their own moral values without realizing it.
