What news from the psychologists? |
Stijn Bruers |
This presentation gives an overview of some recent social psychological studies and findings related to meat consumption and speciesism. Topics that will be explained are: the interspecies model of prejudice, dehumanization, moral disengagement, perpetration-induced traumatic stress, psychic numbing, carnism, cognitive dissonance theory, the meat paradox, the denial of mind, terror mamangement theory, do-gooder derogation, anticipated reproach and vegaphobia. It gives a lot of evidence that most meat eaters do something against their own moral values without realizing it. |
