Portugal brags itself of having as part of its culture the art of stabbing and humiliating animals in public arenas, somehow resembling the Roman coliseums. That and many other acts towards animals in this country can only prove that the definition of civilized cannot be applied here. As long as we treat animals like we do, not even having a decent and modern animal protection law, not even treating well the ones we claim as being so close to, we will still be savages pretending to be modern.
