Laura Wenzel

Laura is an animal and environmental rights activist from Austria who began her activist journey in early 2020. She is currently the national coordinator for the Plant-based Universities Initiative (PBU) in Austria, where she co-founded the Austrian campaign in October 2023 alongside her twin sister, Sophie. Since then, PBU has significantly impacted Austrian media, sparking a national conversation about the need for a plant-based food system in universities.

Laura has played a crucial role in securing the support of the National Student Union of Austria for PBU's call to transition university catering to 100% plant-based. She actively engages with key decision-makers at both university and national levels to advance the plant-based transition within higher education. Laura is committed to driving systemic change toward a more sustainable and ethical food system through strategic negotiations and public advocacy.
