Ankita Shanker

Ankita ShankerAnkita earned her post-graduate degree in law from Oxford University and qualified as a barrister at the Bar of England and Wales. After 1.5 years at international criminal courts/tribunals, she is now a doctoral fellow working on an interdisciplinary PhD titled "Resolving Inconsistencies within the Law to Safeguard the Fundamental Rights of Non-Human Animals", and a moot court coach on a university LLM course. She also acts as a pro bono consultant composing law and policy recommendations to the EU on behalf of the Dutch coalition of animal NGOs, pro bono advisor to a number of NGOs, and trustee to a policy-making think-tank. Ankita`s research and practice are dedicated to safeguarding the fundamental rights of all rights-bearers.
