When compromise is neccessary to win a campaign (on an example of Polish antifur campaign) |
Martyna Kozlowska |
Poland is the second country in Europe and the third in the world in the number of animals killed for fur (more than 10 million). The fur industry has therefore a lot of money, which they use to make contacts with politicians, hire journalists and investigators. When the ban on fur farming became realistic, it became crucial for Polish animal rights organizations to choose their moves and allies wisely. What was the strategy behind pushing the ban forward? How to cope with a powerful animal-abusing enemy and defeat them with their own weapon? Shown based on an example of a successful Polish antifur campaign. |
