Building our compassion endurance
Johnny Braz

Animal rescue work is difficult, demanding, and emotionally intense. Sadly, most animal rescuers are only able to do this work for a few years before depression, burnout, and compassion fatigue make it impossible to go on. In fact, a recent study reveals that animal care workers in the US have a suicide rate of 5.3 in 1 million workers, the highest suicide rate among American workers. How can we take care of ourselves and each other so that we can be effective rescuers for the long-term? If we are truly committed to the liberation of other animals, we must understand and commit to the answers to this question. Join this interactive and engaging discussion to find the key to your own well-being – after all, we are animals, too!
