After spending considerable time working with various known animal and environmental organizations, Wietse founded The Black Fish in 2010. Focused entirely on protecting sea animals, the organization set out to build a grassroots movement for ocean activism and now runs the world`s largest civilian fisheries monitoring network.
In addition to his fish saving efforts, Wietse co-founded the Wildlife Air Service in 2014, which is the first organization to take activism to the skies by mobilizing private pilots to repurpose their leisure flights and help patrol for wildlife poachers.
