Report and analysis of the lab raid in Brazil
Direct action, police clashes, and influencing legislation
George Guimaraes

On October 2013 a spontaneous laboratory raid freed 200 beagles in Brazil. This lecture will report on the details of the raid and what followed, along with a critique and analysis of how setting police cars in fire, working with the media and pressuring legislators led, in merely 3 months, to legislation that limits vivisection on the state level and has started a legislative bill on national congress that is being targeted by protests and has kept the subject on the media for a full year now.
